Malachi's first fish

Okay so we didn't have the opportunity to capture the real deal but this is a sweet little docu-drama Brett did to celebrate this exciting event for Malachi. Brett was able to spend the summer working at one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. It is completely remote and secluded. The mountains are majestic. It is surrounded by waterfalls and little lakes. The trails are literally enchanting. Hot springs, cold creeks, meadows, mountains, wildlife it has it all. This is one of many memories we made there.

Nauvoo Volleyball

Check out Nauvoo's mean overhand serve! It is amazing to me that someone so young and small can pack such a punch. It must have something to do with having a couple of older brothers. Her team name was Blue Sharks, the season is over now but it was a blast!

Our remodel is coming along so nicely! Each of our six children have their own room! Amazing! Sorry I have no photos to post as our main comp died a couple of weeks ago and of course all of our pics and everything when down in flames with it. I am trying to function with just my little laptop. Needless to say I can't exhort the world enough about having a back up plan, somewhere safe to store what you love. Anyway we the parents have been without a room for a couple of years now, we had a living space with a bed but no door. Yo can imagine the fun that has been at times. We now have a room of our own with a door that locks! I LOVE it! Brett picked out this delicous milk chocolate for the walls and the trim is white, the swirly, black rod iron work is so elegant. mmm my room is delicous! Happy wife, happy life.

All of February and March we kept busy with girls
basketball. Camilla and Nauvoo both played for our city parks and rec leagues, Camilla in the older division and Nauvoo in the younger. With two girls in the sport we were at games 4-6 times a week. Basketball is definitely Camilla's favorite sport. she sure gets feisty out there on the court. She is quick and sly constantly stealing the ball and occasionally getting the whistle blown because she fouled. She played point gaurd again this season. Here is the back of her, number 3, receiving the ball to start the play.

Happy New Year!

Well it has been several months since my last posting! Life has been crazy busy! I will try to bring this blog up to speed. Here is a picture of Nauvoo with her older brother Christian right before she was baptized by him into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Although she turned eight in October, which is the age of accountability in our religion, she had her heart set on being baptized by her oldest brother. He needed to be ordained a Priest before being able to perform this ordinance and she was willing to wait for him. Then she figured since she was going to wait till mid December anyway she wanted to wait a couple more weeks and get baptized on New Years Day. What a great way to start off the year. They both said the water was freezing but she said she was warm from her heart and smiled really big up at Christian when she came up out of the water. The blessing Brett gave her afterward to receive the Holy Ghost was so beautiful. She is such a wonderful, choice daughter of God and it is our privilege to have her be a part of our family.

Sunshine Yellow!

Our remodel is coming along nicely. As you can see we are now at the painting stage. Brett, who has always obsessed with pure white walls has pulled a 180 on us. What could bring about such drastic change? A country song! My husband who does not generally listen to country heard some song about a man who didn't let his wife buy a dress or paint a wall or something ~I don't really know and now she's gone. Typical country ending. Anyway we are not gone and he wants us to choose our colors and paint! Way cool, I think the kids are all going to name a color for their own room and Brett & I will go down and pick out something respectful in that color scheme. WRONG! We all load up in the car drive down to Wal-Mart pick out whatever crazy color we want then buy not a quart of it~ but a gallon of it at the full price! Might I remind you this was not from the paint graveyard of deeply discounted mistints. Probably would have been a good idea. Anyway after seeing the Last Lecture online and accepting Bretts decision, I allow the kids to paint with me and I am so proud that the control freak in me is going to share her toys (paint tools)that I take pictures of the process from letting Malachi open his can, to pouing it in the container, to brushing it on the walls. What's this not even 5 minutes into it and he's bored? I should have let him 'help' me days ago instead of repeating 'no' over and over for 8 hours. Okay my turn to paint 30 minutes later I am done with this wall and I grab the camera to take his picture in front, what?!? no CF card! Argghh! No proof I shared! Oh well I know, God knows, Malachi knows and will forget and thats all that matters right, probably but here I am telling the world. Anyway most important is that he LOVES his wall. It is SUNSHINE YELLOOOW he yells as he dances round in his room. If you think your color is off on your comp just think of freshly painted yellow stripes down the middle of the road in the summer. Yeah that's sunshine yellow. Another bonus ~ it appears like the light is on in there even without electricty. Brett loves it too! Enjoy the sunshine of life! Kimberly
